Tuesdays at the Castle

Tuesdays at the CastleTuesdays at the Castle by Jessica Day George
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book tricked me! On the outside it looks like a girly fluff piece, but on the inside….

Celia, Lilah, Rolf and Bran are the children of King Glower the Seventy-Ninth and Queen Celina, and they reside in the magical castle Glower. When the King and Queen are ambushed on their way to Bran’s graduation from the College of Wizardry it is up to the three younger Glower siblings to protect the throne and the castle – although sometimes the castle has its own ideas.

I was genuinely moved by the bravery of the characters in this book, and pleasantly surprised by the complexity of the plot.

Don’t let the cover fool you. This is a great novel for younger readers, with a wonderful female main character and a well-rounded cast of goodies and baddies.

Highly recommended.
